They all come with a UniBearsity crest on their left foot, and can be accessorized with their custom clothing line. Inspired by Walt Disneys Dumbo (1941) Part of our Disney Big Feet Plush Collection The bare necessities. The story behind the UniBEARsity bears – Mickey and friends made teddy bear counterparts that resemble them. We did find Tsum Tsum inside Hong Kong Disneyland park, so Tsums are not Disney Store exclusives in Hong Kong. Tsum Tsum are Disney Store exclusives in Japan (so there are no Disney Park attractions Tsum Tsums in Tokyo). Ufufy join the Disney Store exclusives in Japan, which include Tsum Tsum and the UniBEARsity bears. The story behind Ufufy is online, but these videos from the Disney Store Japan are not available for viewing in the U.S.ĭisney Stores in Japan have exclusive product lines not sold in any of the Disney Parks. Tsum Tsum in the Disney Stores in Japan are priced at 600 Yen each (about $6.50 USD with tax). Pricing for Ufufy are at 700 Yen each, (756 Yen with tax, or about $7.50 USD). The blind bag in the collections retail for 14.99 and you can try your luck here and see. Each of the items in the collection were inspired by Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Walt Disney’s animated classic Dumbo. Their hands actually form tiny loops that you can place small items into. Each of the characters features embroidered features, soft, squeezable fill, fuzzy plush texture and comes in blind bag packages. The first few days (while supplies lasted), there was a ‘free gift’ that came with Ufufy – a colorful straw with ribbons and a tiny bell that they could hold in their hands. (I admit, I have been guilty of sniffing my Ufufy). The beads allow them to sit upright, and are what provide their scent. Ufufy have little beads in their bottoms. Ufufy with Mochi Tsum Tsum for size comparison Ufufy fit in the palm of your hand, and are lightly scented with ‘Flowering Apple.’ The scent reminds me of apple, banana, and cotton candy all together. I tucked in a couple Tsum Tsum in the back row for size comparison. The first release of Ufufy came with 16 pastel-colored characters: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, Tigger, Chip, Dale, Stitch, Marie, Cheshire Cat, and Dumbo. It is meant to express a feeling of happiness and fluffiness. We spoke with a Disney Store manager on release day, and she explained that “Ufufy” (unlike Tsum Tsum) is not a Japanese word. The story is, that these adorable Disney characters were ‘born from the clouds.’ They are fluffy and very soft, and carry a ‘touch of healing’ that only plush animals can bring. We were on hand at the Disney Store in Ikspiari (the shopping center at Tokyo Disney Resort) on release day (a Thursday), when the lines wrapped through the store to snag one of the first Ufufy. There’s so many Ufufys I’d love to see, and I hope to share these ideas with you in a later blog post.Disney Store Japan launched their newest characters on November 3rd, 2016: “Ufufy.” These Ufufy are next in the kawaii (cute) creations sold exclusively at Disney Stores in Japan. I am a massive fan of Ufufys, and I’m glad they chose to release this collection so soon as Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite films. Nonetheless, I don’t think you can have a Beauty and the Beast collection without including Lumiere, and a Ufufy can’t be tall and thin, so I have to accept him just the way he is. I would rather have seen a Mrs Potts, but I suppose she would have been too much like Chip. The flames coming out of his arms(?) are a nice touch, but Lumiere is tall and thin, not short and round. If I had to pick a least favourite of this collection, it would be Lumiere, simply because I don’t think he translates very well into a Ufufy. The detail on him is really good, with his swinging pendulum on the stomach (is it a stomach if it’s a plush of a clock? I don’t know) and I love his rosy cheeks! You can buy him here. CogsworthĬogsworth is my friend’s favourite, and I can see why. Now Chip is hard to get right, because first and foremost Chip is a teacup, and the Tsum Tsum is actually really strange-looking, but I really love this Ufufy – he’s kept his shape and I love that they’ve missed a bit of fabric off the top to look like his chip! You can buy him here. I’d say he’s my favourite out of the Beauty and the Beast Ufufys. Look at him! My favourite thing about Beast is his little bow in his hair, but I also love how he’s got a grumpy face. Ladies first! I think Belle is absolutely stunning, they’ve given her the Tale as Old as Time outfit (though I do prefer her provincial outfit) with little yellow hands to show she’s wearing gloves! I love her hair, and the little swirl to show curls. They all cost £5 each, and are rose scented – which I thought was a really nice detail. These Ufufys were released on Friday 8th December in the UK, and I ordered them online so they came about five days later.
